The whorl has an elk antler base with an upper disk of Plum wood. Set on a Dymalux shaft in the color Rosewood.

Antler polishes to a very glassy and smooth finish. Antlers are technically made of bone, which is shed early each spring so they can grow a new set. The interior portion is porous marrow and when sanded and filled takes on an amazing look like granite. It is a truly unique and remarkable material and I love working with it! The plum wood has amazing color and adds a really nice touch to this spindle.

This support spindle is crafted to be more than a tool—it is a true partner in the gentle art of hand spinning. Balanced, remarkably quick and with a glossy finish, it moves with effortless ease, spinning smoothly and steadily as fiber transforms beneath your fingers. Designed to feel wonderful in the hand, its graceful form offers both comfort and control, inviting you into the quiet rhythm of the process. The swift, responsive spin allows twist to enter your fiber quickly, making each moment feel fluid and intentional without any waiting for the spindle.

Thoughtfully designed, carefully made, and deeply satisfying to use, this spindle turns the simple act of spinning fiber into a luxurious, mindful experience—graceful, delightful and full of possibility.
