Whorl is undyed/natural and non-stabilized Cascara Buckthorn, set on a Dymalux shaft in the color Indigo.

No counter balance "beauty mark"

The wood is a warm caramel yellow with interesting figure and color variations. Cascara is not a commercially available wood species because they are more like shrubs than trees. They grow in the Pacific Northwest. I was given a piece of this wood by Ed Jenkins and it was a joy to work with. It is an unusual wood that is not often seen used in this type of product.
