Whorl is Black dyed & stabilized maple, set on a Dymalux shaft in the color charcoal. The Oregon Myrtle wood stand fits this spindle well (may not fit all Sleek Spincraft spindles since they are all unique). The dark mottling in the stand match the black coloration of the spindle. Use the stand to display or park your spindle upright. This is good for areas where you may be interrupted and need to set your spindle down for a while. It prevents your spindle from rolling away, falling or getting damaged.

Counter balance "beauty mark"

When viewed from the top there appear to be two sets of legs in the grain patterning. I think of this spindle as a spider with her coloration and patterning.
