Luxury Spinning Roving - Silver Grey Polwarth/Silk

85% Polwarth/15% Mulberry Silk

$37.00

85% Polwarth sheep wool/15% Mulberry Silk

Beautifully prepared boutique batch roving which makes a lusciously soft and squishy yarn. I purchased two medium grey polwarth fleeces, imported from New Zealand, at the end of 2025 and sent them to be professionally scoured/milled. Adding 15% high quality mulberry silk adds additional sheen and strength to the fiber.

This batch is super fresh and a dream to spin. It likes to spin thin yarn and is perfect for both supported spindle and wheel spinning. If you like to spin long draw (and next to skin soft, squish yarn) you should fall in love.

The roving comes in 5 oz. bumps and the sample shown was a quick wheel spin of a fine single that was chain plied into the three-ply yarn shown. It has been soaked/dried and shows how it bloomed.

Polwarth is a sheep breed that was developed in Australia around 1880. It was created with 75% saxon merinos and 25% lincoln sheep to create a very soft wool that has better staple length than merinos and a bit of a sheen. The most amazing thing in working with polwarth is how it transforms when you set your yarn. It blooms and becomes even more amazing. Polwarth is my favorite wool to work with and I hope you love it too.
