Koa wood is a highly treasured wood to the Hawaiian people. I has been used for making everything from canoes to ukuleles. The wood is prized for the golden hues and curly chatoyant grain that it can possess. The whorl on this spindle has beautiful grain with dramatically curly grain ranging in color from dark chocolate brown to blonde. The chatoyance is really stunning!
*Counter balance "beauty marks" (these serve to balance out any natural wood density differences and are necessary in about 75% of all spindles made)
This support spindle is crafted to be more than a tool—it is a true partner in the gentle art of hand spinning. Balanced, remarkably quick and with a glossy finish, it moves with effortless ease, spinning smoothly and steadily as fiber transforms beneath your fingers.
Designed to feel wonderful in the hand, its graceful form offers both comfort and control, inviting you into the quiet rhythm of the process. The swift, responsive spin allows twist to enter your fiber quickly, making each moment feel fluid and intentional without any waiting for the spindle.
Thoughtfully designed, carefully made, and deeply satisfying to use, this spindle turns the simple act of spinning fiber into a luxurious, mindful experience—graceful, delightful and full of possibility.
